Mesopotamia Project: The Notes

An important skill for any middle school student is the ability to take accurate, organized, and useful notes. This will help you succeed in your classes this year, and carry you through to college. At the end of the Mesopotamia project, your notes will be collected and scored.

The criteria and scoring levels are listed below. It is important to remember that these are notes; they do not have to be perfect. They should demonstrate your ability to research information, write down main points and topics, and help you write your written report.

All notes should include the date you took them, be legible (readable), and stapled in order.

RSCH:         Methods of Acquiring and Retrieving Knowledge:    Organizing Information
Strand: Note-taking
  • Level 7    Kept detailed, organized, and legible notes for each day’s research which include the date, sources used, and important facts AND had notes in class each day in a folder and highlighted important points.
  • Level 6    Kept detailed, organized, and legible notes for each day’s research which include the date, sources used, and important facts.
  • Level 5    Notes were messy OR disorganized OR incomplete OR not brought to class each day.
  • Level 4    Notes were messy AND disorganized AND incomplete AND not brought to class each day.
